foursquare-badgesIt’s been almost half a year since Foursquare opened its doors to all cities, including our home-base of Knoxville, yet people and businesses alike still seem confused by its potential. While Knoxville’s social media early-adopters have been checking in all over town for months, only a few local businesses have actually stepped up to offer deals on the location-based service. And with sites like PleaseRobMe.com exposing the dark side of over-sharing, many potential Foursquare users are shying away due to privacy concerns.

To address these concerns and show consumers and businesses alike how to unlock Foursquare’s true potential, Social Media Club Knoxville is partnering with Pyxl and Laura Bower PR to host an informative panel.

Join us on Tuesday, June 22 at the Crown & Goose in the Old City from 6-8pm, where a panel of Foursquare users, marketers and local businesses will take a deep dive into the location-based social network. From privacy concerns — to creative business uses — to third-party sites and more, “Unlocking Foursquare’s True Potential” aims to educate the Knoxville community to further promote local adoption of the service.

The event was held at Downtown Knoxville’s S&W Grand, and was a joint effort by the Knoxville Social Media Association and Social Media Club of Knoxville.

You can read more about the event by catching up with the #knoxsummit hashtag on Twitter or by taking a peek at Carly Harrington’s nice write-up in today’s Knoxville News Sentinel.
